Dental Implant Restoration Treatment
Dental implants are an excellent option to replace missing teeth. Much like a natural tooth’s root, dental implants are titanium posts that are anchored into the jaw bone. A crown, bridge, or denture is then affixed to the implant(s) for superior support, stability, and performance.
The implant itself is generally placed under the expert care of an oral surgeon or periodontist, while the restoration (the part that acts as the new tooth or teeth), is designed and placed by Dr. Rickoff.
This procedure takes careful coordination between the two practitioners in order to ensure optimal success for the patient. The dental implant placement typically requires some healing time to allow for osseointegration (acceptance and connection of the implant by the jawbone). Once the implant has been tested and deemed to be stable within the jaw bone, the patient will receive the final, secure restoration. During the healing time, interim or temporary options are available to ensure patients do not need to go without teeth.
Dental implants are the closest treatment option we have to a natural tooth. With a historically 96-98% success rate, they are a time-tested, long-lasting alternative for tooth replacement.
